Jungian Archetypes address the human consiousness. As such they are not
limited to a cultural group. As an example, the Hero as an archetype would
have representatives in many cultures. Cuchulain, Achilles, Romulus (there
would be representatives from all cultures...)
The instructor's comments are probably not an example of "barbarian bashing".
Try reading "Man and his symbols" by C.G. Jung. That's a reasonable
introduction to his thought.
