i am just about to start the process of trying to relocate to ireland.
with the brief phone conversation i had with the irish consulate general
here in chicago this is what you must do in order to work there.
-you must find a job befor relocating (catch-22?)
-your employer must then write a letter to the lobour board explaining
why you are more qualified then a native for that job.
-you would be then granted a work visa only for that specific job.
this is my understanding of the process so far. i am planning a trip to
ireland to visit friends in jan. i am going to pop in on the american
embassy while i'm there and see what they have to say.
a visit in person to the consulate will reveal more details i believe.
i can't believe it is that cut and dry. there has to be a way to go as a
student perhaps. i'll find out more and let every one know.
if there is anyone interested in this process or has started it please
e-mail me at [log in to unmask] . i would be very interested in getting a
group of people started who are interested in relocating. any ideas?!
