Dear Afrophiles,
Admitted that this list is mainly for discussion of
Information technology in Africa, there has been some
talk about Africa being invaded by Western culture.
I myself find certain elements of African quite appealing
to the 'Western' taste, such as 'black' music from
South Africa, Mozambique and Angola.
There is also *Jose Marais and Miranda* who were popular
during the 1940s, singing folk songs of all the ethnic
groups of South Africa. Can anyone tell me if they are
still popular, not condemned to political incorrectness?
I'd like to see all of these groups rediscovered and made
known throughout the world. Hopefully a promoter will
come along someday and do this deed.
Best wishes to all,
Roger
