Hello Ralph Lee and others,
It is interesting and excitng that some one is trying to
link Arba Minch to the internet. I was one of the first
teachers at Arba Minch water technology institute 10 years ago.
I worked there for three years - till I came here. I know all the
College officials and most of them were my juniors. I am interested
at what happens at Arba Minch. By the way Ralph, have you been to
Arba Minch and how did you go about Malaria. Did you see the
crocodiles at lake Chamo !!!
I just came back from Ethiopia after a three weeks visit. As Ethiopia has
become a federal state, there will be a number of regional colleges
that will require such connections. For example, I had discussions
with the Dean of the Mekelle college and he expressed that the college
is looking at means of connecting itself with the outside world.
There is a massive opportunity in Ethiopia to demonstrate the usefulness
of IT. The government seems to be very encouraging and political situtaion
is reasonably stable. For those with time and money Ethiopia is the place.
If there are poeple who want to know more about investment in Ethiopia or
any other activity they could contact Dawit Yohannes who is an active
participant of AFRIK-IT. He has been elected as the SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE
OF REPRESENTATIVES of ETHIOPIA. Congratulations Dawit!!!
