a culture -- and because the same forces remain at the centre of
the institutions of the establishment today, and the same prejudices

And now they speak English, have become Anglo-Americanised and
live in and contribute to a non-Celtic culture. Few of their
descendents know anything of their ancestor's language or
history, so it is an almost total loss.
