sovereignty as well although I wonder if we agree for the same reason. I
hold that, in international affairs, might is the only right. It follows
that sovereignty applies to the ability to defend frontiers against all
The insertion of the UNO into the equation has been to reduce
hostilities through the internationalisation of conflict and the
multiplication of mediation agencies. So we have apparently sovereign
small states. One can argue however that it is not the concept of
sovereignty that has changed but that we enjoy a world order in which
non-sovereign states can parade as though they were sovereign.
