Point taken. The Americans tend to view products or people 'not made
here' in a negative light. In Africa the reverse seems to be true. For
example. a German consultant was brought out to solve a problem. His
rate was $5000 per day(!) for a minimum of 5 days(!!). He 'graciously'
agreed to pay his own airfare and accomodation. The problem is that he
was brought out by my aquaintance's management because they felt that
my aquaintance and his team would not be able to solve the problem. It
turns out that they were close to the solution when they were pushed
Many of the techies here are darn good. It's a pity they don't get the
recognition that they deserve.
