I am very happy to hear that Ghana now has full Internet service. It sounds
like some people there made a huge investment in time and money to accomplish
Could I ask about telephone service in the country? I spent last year in
Namibia and we set up a store-and-forward connection for Internet. Our node
was in Windhoek, the capital city. Twice each day we called down to Pretoria
South Africa and moved our mail through their gateway.
This was a great opportunity for us in the capital city. But when we hosted a
conference on this new system and invited businesses, government bodies, and
ngos to hook up, we discovered that the service was essentially unreachable
outside of Windhoek. The local phones simply wouldn't handle digital traffic
within the country.
What is the situation in Ghana? Can most of the country now get onto the
Internet, or just the major business centers?
