>>>> LEARNERS: skip to end for translation (mine) into English of a
short poem by Gearailt Mac Eoin--after _you_ have tried decoding it!
From his book _Labhrai/ Loingseach_, published by Coisce/im in 1988.
Given the day that's in it, a short time set aside with a dictionary
& grammar book--you HAVE bought both these tools?--would be fitting.
Write Coisce/im at address 127 Bo/thar na Tra/, Baile A/tha Cliath 4,
E/ire (Ireland) for their latest catalogue. Price of this bk IEP2.50.

         Cumarsa/id

Bhi/ se/ ar bharr mo theanga,
    an rud a shi/l me/ a ra/,
    ach du/ras rudai/ eile,
    mionchaint gan ta/bhacht.

Agus shi/ me/ ort 'na dhiaidh sin,
    nuair a bha/saigh an comhra/,
    go raibh rud eici/nt na/r dhu/irt tu/
    a bhi/ tu/ 'dhul a ra/.

It was on the tip of my tongue,
the thing I meant to say,
       but I said other things,
       unimportant small talk.

And I thought by you afterwards,
       after the conversation had died,
there was something you didn't say,
       but meant to.
