[GA] Tha ceist agam. Tha fios agam gur e "Eireann" am facal 'san Ga\idlig
air "Ireland" ach bha mi a' faicinn "Iris" ann an seann fhaclair. Bha iad
ag radh gun robh "Iris" airson "an t-Eilean Ris," mar "nearby island." Eil
fios aig duine mu dheidhinn agus de\ tha an eichdraidh aig "Eireann?"

[BE] I've got a question. I know that "Eireann" is the Scots Gaelic word for
"Ireland," but I've seen "Iris" in an older dictionary. The dictionary
said that "Iris" derived from "an t-Eilean Ris," meaning "the nearby
island." Does anyone know anything about this, or what the entymology of
"Erieann" is?

Gabh mo leisgeul, ach chan eil mi math air Ga\idhlig fhathast!

Ceud taing! -j
