Steve Cooney (guitarist from Australia now residing in Ireland) plays
the didgeridoo. I don't know how many samples of it are on the latest
album he recorded with Seamus Begley, but when he played with Stockton's
Wing they recorded a track called _Skidoo_ on one of their albums and
the introduction is Steve playing the didgeridoo. Give it a listen if
you have access to it - it's an interesting sound. The only other
musician I know of who uses it in Irish music is a guy called Simon
O'Dwyer - I don't know where he is now or what he's doing. It works
quite well as a percussion accompaniment to Irish traditional music.
I'm going to cross-post this to IRTRAD-L to see what (if anything)
they have to say about it there.
Seamus Mac Conaonaigh.
