Here is a note I just sent off to IRTRAD... If you have any ideas that
will help, I'll really appreciate it. Thanks
Selma's request for mail-order music resources (Hi Selma -- I Promise to
write to you soon!!) and Paul Wells's (Hi to you too, Paul...) helpful
listing of the Celtic.Stanford FTP files (which I still can't seem to
access, for some reason) leads me to another question to you-all on this
list. I am on the lookout for videotapes of music - or dance - or both,
and the more traditional the better (whatever that means)- from Celtic
countries, as well as any countries in NW Europe -- all the way East to
Asia, I think. The project of this week is focusing on "islands" - and
island culture. We have a Russian ethnomusicologist/scholar in residence
in our department at UCLA this quarter, who is just great. His talks
have left me wondering about connections among the people of the north.
So it's time to either go back there or see some pictures.
Around here, we have our "best" bookstores, and our "best" recording stores...
but no "best" video stores. If anyone has special ideas where I might
check, I'd appreciate hearing about those. OR - perhaps there are "best"
mail-order places on the Celtic Stanford listing I've now saved in my files.
I've been watching the 6-hour Frank Delaney series "The Celts" --- That's
an interesting beginning.
Thanks very much in advance for your help,
