ANNUAL BLISS FOLK FESTIVAL SET FOR JULY 8-10 CROSS VILLAGE, Mich., May 16
/PRNewswire/ -- Preparations are underway for the 14th Annual Bliss Folk
Festival to be held July 8, 9, 10 at the Festival Farm near Cross Village,
Michigan. Blissfest features a wide variety of traditional music including:
folk, blues, bluegrass, jazz, ethnic music as well as workshops in
traditional music and dance styles and a full array of children's music,
arts and dance activities.
Over 20 different groups and solo artists will be performing over the course
of the weekend on three different stages. There will also be arts and
crafts venders, food concessions and rustic camping on site.
Headlining this year's show will be well known singer songwriter John Gorka
and the multi-talented Peter Ostroushko. Other performers include:
Honeyboy Edwards (Delta Blues), Catfish Keith (Blues/Ragtime), Jive at Five
(Swing), The Porky Pines (Bluegrass), Jutta and the High Dukes (Eastern
European & Scandinavian), Peaceful Women (Acappella), The Raisin Pickers
(Eclectic Folk), The Willeys (Irish Rock), A.J. Fischer (singer songwriter),
and David Storie & Roxanne Neat (Folk Duo). Local performers include:
Kirby, Dr. Goodhart's Home Remedy, and Peacemeal. For the kids and adults
there will be The Red Rug Puppet Theater, Storie & Neat, Crazy Richard the
Patty Clark as well as Ron and Jan Fowler, plus games and theater.
Featured workshops and demonstrations will include: Blues styles, Swing
Set, History of Bluegrass, Chants and Rounds, Percussion, Eastern European
Styles, Earth Songs, Fiddle Styles, Open Mike, Celtic Tunes, Dylan Songs,
Kids Square dance, clogging, talent show and concert, instrument building
and a kids parade. It's the Folk Cultural Event of the season for Northern
Michigan. Bring the family, bring a friend and experience BLISS for

Advanced tickets are $30 for the weekend, $40 at the gate. Only weekend
tickets include camping privileges. Saturday and Sunday are $15/day at the
