Finan's comment on the salt mines in Austria but missed the original question.
As for amber, right away Poland comes to mind for me as this country is the
world's major depot for amber and has been so for hundreds....perhaps thousands
of years. Everybody loves amber. There's also a huge salt mine around Torun I
think, in which is carved...right out of the salt walls...a small chapel. I's
be interested in hearing any theories about contacts between Celts and Slavs
(other than how my dad met my mom). Thanks!
