An uncle visited Spain as a young man in his mid 20s. When he returned
he commented he was "right at home" in Spain and he wasn't looked upon
as a tourist. Many years later Grandma "admitted" that the family line
had black irish in it... supposedly a survivor of the Spanish Armada.
Grandma's other 7 children were/are of classic Irish appearance.
I was present when Grandma made her "admission". Having been raised in
the liberal USofA it was rather surprising to observe how ashamed she
was over something which had happened generations before her.
