I'm an American Protestant (nominally Lutheran, though I've been
a bit lax about attending church, lately). I celebrated the
'holiday' by wearing a green shirt, an "I'm Irish - if you're
buying" hat, and going out for a cheeseburger and a Killian's
for dinner. I'd also mention the shamrock pin on my coat collar,
but that's been a more-or-less permanent resident of that coat,
since I got it a year ago (the pin, not the coat).
So... I'm not entirely sure what my point was, but I think it
had something to do with the personal nature of the day - do
what you want to celebrate what you think you are... Or
