Subject: Bells, etc.
I was reading a message from this list a few days ago and was
reminded, for some reason(I haven't quite figured out the connection
yet), of the song "Bells of Rymney"(sp ?) by the folk/rock group The
Byrds from sometime in the 60's. I remember at one time looking up
some of the towns mentioned in the song (as locations of other "Bells")
and found about half of them on a modern map of Wales. Does anyone
know if this was a traditional folksong from Wales that the Byrds
simply co-opted? If so, whats its significance (bells, etc.)? Also,
does anyone know where all the towns/bells are located?
Thanks in advance.
