Well Denise ,Bally is derived from the irish word "BAILE" which means
town.The english anglicised it to the "BALLY" version during their
KILL ... Im pretty sure that KIL comes from the IRISH word for FORT/CASTLE.
Generally a village/town with the prefix KIL will be names so after a castle
in the locality.

"DUN" means catle in IRISH and is used in a similar context as the above
