Hello to all!
This is my first posting to this list, so I (of course) jump into a
devil's advocate situation. :) ADVapologiesANCE.
In re using an accent when singing Irish songs, I would suggest that,
for some, it may simply slip in without their willing it. It just feels like
a natural shaping of the words for them.
For instance, (though a weird instance, since this is a pop song) I usually
find myself doing an Irish accent (I hope!) when I get about quarter-through
Billy Joel's "Piano Man." The song he created sounds as if it should be sung
in an Irish bar or some such place. It just feels right for the character in
the song to sound partly Irish.
