I've been on this list for about a week and everyone seems to be doing
introductions, so here goes.
I'm Wendy Hudson, and, while I'm a scientist in real life, I study history as a
sideline. Actually, I try to recreate it as a member of the Society for Creative
Anachronism. My special interest is in Ireland from the 7th to 10th c. Any good
cultural tidbits or sources from this period would be appreciated. I also do
some weaving, embroidery, leatherwork etc., though I specialize in Celtic
illumination from the Kells period (I've never been able to afford to work on
vellum, unfortunately) if anyone is interested in discussing these things. I'd
love to learn Gaelic, but the U of MN doesn't offer it in night classes :( , so
please don't get too carried away, unless you translate. Oh, and a large chunk
of my ancestry is British Isles, including Irish, Scottish, and Welsh.
Nice to meet you all!
Wendy (or my alter ego Muireann ni Faircheallaigh)
