I can't quote any examples of Scots, but as far as I know it's a form
of English, but spoken (and written) in dialect. The poems of Robert
Burns seem to have been composed in Scots, or something similar. The
language presumably relates to Gaelic in some way, but whether the
relationship is more than mere word-borrowing I don't know. I recently
read that Scots is under threat of extinction, and a society has been
founded to protect it.
