I've been told that McAnnally is just a variant of McNally. When my
father was drafted for WWII, the Army made a typo on his papers and added
another "L". Eventually, he gave up trying to fight city hall and changed
the way he signed his name. So my uncles and male cousins spell their
last name differently. I've never tried to research my family but the
older I get, the better the idea sounds. My cousin has my grandfather's
Family Bible so I could find out a few more names.
He had 7 or 8 brothers that left Alabama before the turn
of the century to make a better living elsewhere and were never heard
from again. But it would be great fun if it were possible to located
family back in Irland as I've heard of others doing. Matter of fact,
my roommate's mother found some of her family from Ireland and two
ladies came to Kentucky from Ireland to visit them.
