The mail->TeX converter I mentioned last night has now been added to the
library, and can be retrieved by sending the "get gelato1 prog" command to
LISTSERV@IRLEARN (*not* to this list, please).
In order to use this script, you need a running perl interpreter on your
system. The script takes an arbitrary number of mail messages as input,
and produces a TeX source file. The following conversions are performed:
1. All characters of special significance to TeX are escaped.
2. <vowel>/ -> acute accent
3. <vowel>\ -> grave accent
4. rows consisting entirely of dashes, underlines, equal signs, etc.
are converted to \hrule.
5. Mail headers are trimmed to keep only From:, Date: and Subject:.
Options are provided to suppress the trimming of headers, and to print
in single-column format (the default is a tree-saving two-column format
in a seven-point font).
