Note the interest in a 'futuristic' component for this Conference.
Are there themes which subscribers here might like to consider for
presentation, and especially has anyone suggestions for a possible
21st-Century 'track' (series of presentations). Is there anyone who
would be interested to co-ordinate this idea? It's open for discussion
now (on [log in to unmask] --- Please subscribe if you have not
already done so.) ...
Cheers,
Melcir

			VLDB 93

19th International Conference on Very Large Data Bases

		    Call for Papers

The Conference
--------------

VLDB Conferences provide truly international forums for identifying,
encouraging and exchanging ideas and experiences on database management
systems and techniques, and on related research, development and novel
applications. They have played a pivotal role in catalyzing the development,
furtherance and deployment of database technology. They have served as
platforms where new technological directions and areas for research in
databases have been inititated. The 19th VLDB Conference - to be held
in 1993 in Dublin, Ireland - will strive to continue this tradition.
It will bring together researchers, developers and users of
database management systems from academia, business and industry, to
share information and explore new ideas.

However, VLDB 93 will make a special effort to further the goal of
VLDB to lead the reporting and stimulating of new research directions.
To this end, we solicit papers and panel proposals on relatively
speculative and futuristic topics. We also encourage papers
on novel and challenging applications of database technology in designing and
building complex information systems.

VLDB 93 will include scientific papers, tutorials and panels, and
for the first time, a poster session which will provide an opportunity
for young researchers and others to present on-going work and to share
experiences in applying databases to the real world.
