To whom it may concern:
I am very interested in learning more about my Irish ancestry;
to date I have records of my ancestors (surname Cassidy) dating back
to about 1800. However, I've been unable to find the location of our
family roots in Ireland, although I've been told that in a town named
Carlow there were many Cassidys there. I travelled to Ireland and
specifically Carlow in 1985, and did find a few Cassidy names in the
local parish records, but since the records we saw were only records of
baptisms and weddings.
Can anyone out there help me further? (i.e., what records should
I look for to determine what Irish citizens travelled to the US around
the early 1800's?
Thanks for the help!
