If I may raise a horse of a different color, what is known about Epona,
the Celtic deity who is often shown riding astride a horse (and in some
illustrations with a cloak billowing above her). The reason I ask is that
(as I mentioned on another list) cloaks often symbolize the sky -- where we
would speak of the starry sphere, they see a starry cloak.
Did Epona have any celestial connotations?
