I meant to comment on Alan Lacy's note on corrguinecht 'crane slaying'. I
wonder if this is in some way connected to the Gallic god Esus and the
tarvos trigaranus "bull with three cranes"? On him, see Jan de Vries, "A
propos du dieu Esus," Ogam 5 (1953), 16-21. We haven't even scratched the
surface on birds, nor on Gaulish and "Early Celtic" birds, not to mention
other shamanic animals and vegetation.
