Hogan's Onomasticon Goedelicum [444 right-hand col.] lists a place called
Glenn Moronóc, as to which it says "cf Morónoc of Druim Samraid ... and
Cell Morónoc in Scotland".
Perhaps the Mo- is the common hypocoristic preface (= My) found in saints
names, and the -rón- is related to Rónan? The Corpus Genealogiarum
Sanctorum Hiberniae list a bishop called Rón at p 133:704.53. On the other
hand, the CGSH lists a number of saints called Moernóc, but that seems too
far removed (even if we insert an epenthetic vowel) from what we have
attested here and in the place names cited above.
