You may well get a more thorough answer than mine, but just in case
I have a friend who went to look at the collection a few years back.
I'd ask her, but right this moment she's on a plane to Ireland for a
week's visit. The impression I got was that it was not on display
with the regular collection, but was readily available to anyone who
was interested in looking at it, without any need to present
qualifications. I recall my friend being pretty awed by being allowed
to look at it and handle it. They didn't make her wear gloves, and
she thought they should have.
