I'm not aware of any surviving OI word meaning "winnowing fan". DIL
gives one of the meanings of "fuinnem" (mod. "fuinneamh = energy") as
"winnowing sieve", but I don't know anything about that.
I find it amusing, however, that two of the modern words for the
implement are "bodhrán" and "dallán". The first looks like a very
straightforward derivative of "bodhar = deaf; dull (of a sound)",
while the second looks like an equally straightforward derivative of
"dall = blind".
