I'll just say that I find this story, like many others in the OI
canon, especially those in the Ulster Cycle, to be profoundly alien in
outlook. I'm not easily charmed into their world. There are some
exceptions. And then there's ScÚl Muicce Meic Dathˇ, which is a sly
satire and fun. Isn't it true, though, that some early scholars
failed to recognize that it was a satire? That seems like good
evidence of just how "other" this literature is.
