I asked my colleague Laura Malone who is currently preparing an
edition of the ModIr. version of the tale. She told me that whenever
she and Ruairí Ó hUiginn were talking about it they actually used the
OIr. pronunciation ['fʲlʲiðəʃ]. Now that leaves us with a bit of a
cliffhanger because the OIr. pronunciation of a ModIr. spelling is
anachronistic of course. Personally, I'd guess that in the Early
Modern Irish period, the pronunciation would have been something like
['fʲlʲiɣəʃ], and this should have resulted in something contemporary
like ['fʲlʲiəʃ], like Íosac suggested.
