Ref Manx: Indeed you can use "do" as an auxiliary in both the past and the future:

Ren mee kionnaghey arran jea. -- Chionnee mee arran jea.
Neemayd goll dys Doolish mairagh.  -- Heemayd dys Doolish mairagh.

But this use of jannoo (and ve) as auxiliary verbs to form tenses is not the same as the compound verbs using cur, goaill, feddyn etc which is very, very common in Manx as well.

We should, perhaps, note that, in common with other Celtic tongues, some of these phrasal verbs are compounds of a simple verb and preposition which generally changes the meaning from the original verb (e.g. goaill rish - confess, cur er - compel) and some are those which combine a verb and noun (e.g. goaill tastey jeh - pay heed to, cur arrey er  - watch, guard)

Learners of Manx often experience difficulty because the direct object of a verb now needs to be referred to by a preposition and it is often not obvious which one is correct (or, perhaps, which expresses a subtle distinction).
