I have a question about complex noun phrases like:
(1) uinneag býth piuthar na caileige (the girl's sister's shop's window)
The grammar books say that in such constructions only the most deep
embedded noun is marked as genitive and gets an article (this seems to
be true for Irish as well).
My question is: What case do the other nouns have? Are they always
nominative, or can they be dative too.
For example, which of the following is correct?:
(2) bho uinneig býith piuthair na caileige (from the girl's sister's
(3) bho uinneag býth piuthar na caileige
(4) bho uinneig býth piuthar na caileige
