As I'm sure you know, there are regional variations in how the dances are
danced, including variations in the music used. For example, although I
haven't attended a ceili in years, back in the day in the Baltimore/Washington
area (USA) The Siege of Ennis was danced to reels, even though the official
handbook calls for jigs.
