ESBT emergency repairs on fibre between Carrick and Galway
killybegs-sw1 (mgmt access only)
Loss of resilience to:
- dun-pe1 to gal-pe1 down
20101123 11:49 OMG Dermot Hopkins has called to say ESBT engineer is now
in Carrick on Shannon and is about to take down the fibre between Carrick
and Galway, which has been experiencing problems since 20101113 (loss of
8dB on the link). IT Sligo have been failed over manually onto their
Belfast link as per ticket #20101118-8. All other affected clients will
lose resiliency, except for Government Networks which doesn't have a
resilient link so connectivity will be completely lost for the duration of
the repair work.
20101123 13:10 GAR Incoming call from ESBT TOC. They have a crew on site
to disconnect and test the fibre span from Carrick to NUIG and have sought
permission to begin testing.
HEAnet NOC has cleared ESBT to test the fibre which will result in a loss
of service across that span. This is part of the resilient HEAnet core
network and thus no impact to service of any clients is expected.
20101123 15:03 OMG EK spoke to ESBT(John Hutch) who have replaced the
patch between the ESBT
Line side and the ESBT ODF patch panel which connects to the customer

This has resolved the issue. All circuits have come back up. Will monitor
for 24hrs before migrating IT Sligo back to their primary link.
