Thanks for the analysis, Neil. The article scared the bejeezus out of
me from page 4 on! I did spend a while last night looking through the
corpus of inscriptions in _The Pictish Symbol Stones of Scotland_
(2008) by Iain Fraser, which I had ordered a few weeks ago pretty much
on a lark. And then that article suddenly just popped up. It is
remarkable how uniform the symbols are, how neatly sculpted, and often
how painstakingly detailed.
