I see more clearly your 'protest' about formal social structure, Luc,
and how I seemed to be relating it to you.
Just to clarify: I don't think you are advocating such a thing at all.
I think you go along with Checkland's phenomenological stance, and
Vicker's 'appreciative system' which emanates from the individuals in
the course of their interactions. Sorry if I didn't make that clear.
My use of 'formal social system' is my understanding of how the VSM is
uniquely valuable and goes beyond the analyic of Michel Foucault. My
point was that I believe the VSM nudges to visibility such a
pathological tendency towards 'formal social structure', whre Foucault
appeared to be halted by a preoccupation with language itself.
My relating 'formal social structure' to yourself, was merely intended
to indicate that I think you believe in a degree of tension as you
mention, that is higher than the degree of tension I would go along
with. In spite of such a difference between us, I imagine we both to
varying degrees go along with the fundamental insight of a la Bhagavad
Gita into this. To repeat, I think (as regards you and I ) this is a
matter of degree.
Once again, Thanks,
