He may have been influenced by Thurneysen's translation ('Schweinekoben'), 
though that begs the question somnewhat. More likely both he and Thurneysen 
noted that the context appears to involve care of pigs rather than other 
livestock (a gloss relates the 'ploughing and reaping' to the provision of 
pig feed as well).

According to Kelly (E. Ir. Farming 449) the use of 'croud' (= care of 
animals in an enclosure) in the sense of 'milking' is a development 
confined to Munster.
