The most overtly non-Christian use of a "magical seven" is in the well-
known poem/prayer that begins:
Ad·muiniur secht n-ingena trethan = I invoke the seven daughters of
A short way into it we have:
secht tonna tocaid dom doro·dáiltear = may seven waves of good fortune
be apportioned to me
And toward the end:
Ad·muiniur Senach secht-aimserach = I invoke Senach of the seven times
Am sén secht-maínech = I am a seven-treasured sign
But we have no idea whether this incantation really harks back to an
original that predates Christian learning.
