This is a fairly urgent request on behaslf of Oirdhreact an Chláir (OaC). We are working our way through our digitisation programme slowly but surely and have now digitised over 500 tapes and cassettes. A lot of these are of Clare music but we also have loads of other valuable material. As a result of all this work, our current tape machines (all of which are 30 years plus) are getting as tired and weary as their operators!
Unfortunately, open reel recorders pareticularly are now as rare as hen's teeth, especially in Ireland. This si an appeal if anyone has any machines that they would like to donate to a good cause, we would love to hear from you. Even non-working machines may be useful for spares. We really need professional quality items, such as Ferrograph, Revox, Nagra, etc., but anything, and any format would be considered.
I know that transport costs may prove difficult if machines are situated outside of Ireland but try us anyway.
Thanks in anticipation of any help that you be able to give us - it is a worthy cause.
P.S. Double CD of last year's Willie Week final concert due to be launched July 5 - more details later!
