Here's what I got; I am starting to pick up on the internal rhymes.
Feargaidis fria araid monach
nirbo tomaid tregnach.
rodluig in flaith find cend foglach
narluig timcell temrach.
Feargaidis fria araid monach.
nirbo tomaid treadnach.
rodluid in flaith find chend foglach
narluig timchell teamrach.
Here's my translation:
He grew angry with his skillful charioteer
It was not an abstinent threat
The fair-haired plundering prince came
who didn't go around Tara.
'feargaidis' looks like a variant of 'feargaigid'. DIL gives examples
of 'feargaigid' used with 'fri'.
'tomad' translates "act of threatening...aiming at, striking at".
'trednach' translates 'fasting, abstinent' but I couldn't figure out how that
could apply to a threat. Maybe it means that Tadg struck the charioteer
without holding back anything?
'rodluig/rodluid' looks like an odd perfect form of 'do-tét' but I couldn't exactly
figure it out. Liz
