The tune for that song (on the YouTube clip) sounds like a first cousin to the
melody used for, among others, "Paddy West", "Tramps and
Hawkers", "England's Motorway", "The Wind That Shakes the Corn", as well as
Terry Winch's (of Celtic Thunder) song "The Best Years of Their Lives".
I also hear the echoes of "The Lakes of Ponchartrain", though I agree that it's
a different tune.
