I've enjoyed reading through the archives of this list for some time now,
but only joined last week.
I was wondering if anyone could help me out with a query I had about Lebor
Gabala. I'm particularly interested in the description of Ireland's position
in the world (beginning 'Hybernia insola possita est in occidente...)' which
occurs in the Latin portion of the Miniugud version of LG. It's on pg 164 of
volume 1 of MacAlistair's ITS edition.
I'm slightly confused as to the exact status of the Miniugud version in
relation to the rest of LG. I can't seem to find much consideration of it in
the secondary literature. Why, for instance, is it largely in Latin rather
than Irish? I'd be particularly interested to know if its description of
Ireland's position in the world has any sources or analogues in Old or
