a battle in rough windy Conach,
the battle of Crinna, though it were 'distant and musical' (!),

I've shopped the three versions for this composite translation, and
followed Lec and BB for the absurd third line. You've said that LL(c)
looks corrupt, but at least it makes a certain kind of sense as a
Cid dian(d)id clú? = (lit.) What from which is fame? = Whence is
