   I'm snowed in too and trying to catch up with the list.  

  DIL C 446.49  in the entry for 'con-icc' says --

"With accusative 'has power over, controls, is master of..."

  Would 'sáraigid ar' ("is better than, gets the better of; persuades, prevails 
upon" )  work here?   

  Or maybe a verbal noun construction, like

'ní coimnacuir a múrtho do sárugud'
