20080823 15:24 OMG Peter from Airspeed mailed to say that they had outage
notifications for the NUIG node. Replied to Peter notifying him of the
power outage in NUIG. Connectivity was lost to Mace Head Atmospheric
Research Station (mhars-sw1), Aras Shorcha Ni Ghuairim (asng-sw1), Aras
Mhairtin Ui Chadhain (carraroe-sw1), Research Field Station (carron-sw1),
GMIT - Letterfrack (letterfrack-sw1), Martin Ryan Institute
(martinryan-sw1) , GMIT - Castlebar (castlebar-sw1), Sean Scoil Shailerna
(sean-sw1) at 18:33 yesterday.
20080824 10:22 OMG Contacted Maria in NUIG regarding the loss of power to
the airspeed equipment on-site. The Airspeed equipment is in a different
building (the Orbison Building), and so is not covered by the generator
that is feeding all of our other equipment. She is going to try and find a
contact who looks after that building to see if it is possible to get a
feed for Airspeed's DC rectifier. She also mentioned that the power is
expected to come back earlier today than 8pm.
20080824 12:38 OMG Connectivity was restored at 12:21 to all our
Gaeltacht sites, bar Letterfrack which went down again 6 minutes after it
returned. Contacting Airspeed regarding this site.
20080824 12:57 OMG Contacted Maria again to see if the devices had managed
to be put on a generator or if power has been restored. She said she was
unable to get in contact with anyone so she doesn't expect they've been
put on the generator and is going to call me back to confirm whether power
has been restored.
20080824 13:00 OMG Power has been restored to the Orbison building where
the Airspeed equipment is located, but the computer room where our PoP is
located is still running on generator. Maria says they expect power to be
restored there in the early afternoon.
Peter from Airspeed phoned back saying that the alarms on their equipment
in Tullybeg indicate a power issue in Letterfrack. He says that this has
occurred with this site before (August 3rd according to NOC emails). Will
contact Liam in GMIT.
20080824 13:40 OMG Spoke to Martin in GMIT who got in touch with their
contact in Letterfrack. They suspect that the circuit boards need to be
reset locally and they are happy to leave it until tomorrow morning to do
20080825 09:18 GL Power has been restored to NUIG but they are still
running on the generator. One of their power control switches failed to
detect that mains power has been restored. They have logged a call with
20080825 09:35 GL Power restored to Letterfrack locally at 09:32. Switch
is now reachable.
20080825 11:54 GL The Galway PoP is still experiencing power issues.
Logged call with NUIG at approx 11:00 and 11:50 and emailed at 11:11.
Suspect they are trying to failover back over to mains power Awaiting
20080825 12:27 GL Circuits transitioned a number of times in the last 10
minutes. tried ringing NUIG again, no answer, left voicemail.
20080825 13:06 AC - Galway PoP is back on mains power, all affected
switches back online, continuing to monitor.
