Dear list members,

I write you to see if anyone could send me as pdf or by other means the description of Uronema marinum by Womersley 1984. The marine benthic flora of Southern Australia Part I.

Furhermore, I would like to know which are the distinctive characters to distinguish the genus Uronema from Ulothrix. I have found in a paper [Skinner and Entwisle 2004 Non-marine algae of Australia: 5. Macroscopic Chaetophoraceae (Chaetophorales, Chlorophyta). Telopea 10(2): 613-633] that the two main characteristics that distinguish Uronema from Ulothrix are the basal disc and the mucronate apical cell.
Now, both in:
Kraft. 2007. Algae of Australia: The Marine Benthic Algae of Lord Howe Island and the Southern Great Barrier Reef 1: Green Algae
and in:
Abbott and Huisman 2004. Marine Green and Brown Algae of the Hawaiian Islands (Bishop Museum Bulletins in Botany)
the pictures and descriptions of Uronema marinum show rounded apical cells, with no spine at its tip.
It is unclear to me then why it is considered Uronema and not Ulothrix.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot

Sincerely

Brigitte Gavio
