The temperature as measured by our routers in the DEG/Kilcarbery Park POP
has risen by 10 DegC.
The DEG POP hosts core routing equipment for the National Backbone Network.
Currently, all clients with connections served in this POP have resilient
connections to other POPs. If the temperature rise forces us to shutdown
equipment, service will continue via alternative paths.
20080508 16:26 BB Asked DEG about the problem. A large water pipe is
broken, leading to problems for the Air Con systems. Plumbers are working
on the problem.
20080508 16:56 BB DEG have put a temporary remedy in place, and say that
they expect the temperature to drop towards normal shortly.
20080509 09:13 BB Repairs have been carried out, and the temperature has
returned to normal. DEG will issue a formal RFO.
20080512 13:04 GAR RFO issued via e-mail. Problem was that a valve had
failed, which was draining their closed circuit cooling. This was not a
problem while the mains supply of water kept the reservoirs topped up.
However, when the mains water was shut off, this resulted in the tanks
being drained through this faulty valve with the resultant loss of
