I think you're right.  The problem for me is understanding the idiom  
here.  Literally it seems to be what Pamela gave us:

> ... your reputation will never be completed ...

Perhaps, "your reputation will never be established / firm / assured" ?

> ... your reputation will be done for unless you kill him or put him  
> to flight this evening.

I think that's a good non-literal translation.
